About
The Full Story
The Youth Lighthouse was founded by Catherine, a dedicated high school student. In grade 8, she became aware of the challenges faced by newcomers and decided to volunteer at various immigrant and refugee centers around Toronto. Through her experience, she discovered that while there were sufficient programs adults, support specifically for children was lacking. She noticed that many of the girls she met were often shy or burdened with significant responsibilities at home. This motivated Catherine to create a nonprofit organization that provides a safe space for newcomer girls to grow, connect with like-minded peers, and access tailored programs that cater to their unique experiences ultimately preparing them for a brighter future.
